After many years of collaboration between Matteo Trabaldo Togna and Cm Shih in the financial sector they became very good friends. A year ago their joint passion for food & wine led them towards a project in F&B and in particular fine dining.

The place of choice was immediately Singapore: both a Financial hub and a Culinary Paradise, where Singaporeans simply love their food.

The Ideal location was soon found: Duxton Hill could not have been more perfect. An imposing Colonial Building in the heart of the city but nestled away in the Oasis of Duxton. It was here that ALBA 1836 a Contemporary Italian Restaurant would be created.

Glass doors swing open to unveil - arguably - Singapore’s most stylish Italian. On entering, the floor to ceiling wine cellar catches the eye, followed by a glass covered inner courtyard and open kitchen with louvered windows. The bar area is bedecked with designer golden hanging lamps which lead into a spacious, dimly lit main dining that opens out onto an elegant Al fresco Terrace.

This intimate restaurant seats indoor up to 50 guests, while there is one dedicated private dining room for 10 guests, and outdoor for up to 30 guests. ALBA is also available for private events.

The decidedly upscale Menu revisits traditional regional specialties throughout the Italian peninsula in an innovative way, studded with Italian Contemporary creations.

Guests can choose from the “A la Carte Menu” (Lunch and Dinner) and also available daily 2 Set Lunch - Classic and Executive.

Signature dishes to delight include:
  • Burrata Cheesecake with Red Prawn, sweet and sour Tomato coulis.
  • Grilled lightly spicy Octopus on Fennel mash and Taggiasche olives.
  • Lemon-marinated Hokkaido scallops Carpaccio with Asparagus and Black Truffle.
  • Sardinian Pecorino, grilled until golden brown, drizzled with Chestnut Honey, paired with fresh Figs.
  • Paccheri from Gragnano in a white seafood sauce.
  • Saffron Risotto with Stracchino Cheese, Sea Urchin and Caviar.
  • Milanese style red Sicilian prawns in a crust of yellow polenta on a black ink risotto with Stracchino cheese and Mediterranean sea urchin.
  • Veal Ossobuco on polenta with Stracchino cheese and black truffle.
The extensive over 400 labels wine list include many of the well known Italian Great wines such as Gaja, Antinori, Pio Cesare, Clerico, Dal Forno to mention just a few, as well as a dedicated selection of boutique vineyards, many of which are exclusive to ALBA 1836, all top rated by the world's most renowned wine experts such as Robert Parker, James Suckling, Wine spectator, Gambero Rosso, Galloni and Veronelli.

Also to be enjoyed at ALBA 1836 Wine Bar & Restaurant a huge 40 wines by the glass through State of the Art Italian Wine Dispensers, ideal for both wine tasting & wine pairing.
